Mark Hemstreet founded the Shilo Inn Suites in 1974. The popular
hotel chain now consists of 20 properties and 13 restaurants in six western
states and Texas. Since opening the first Shilo Inn near the Portland International
Airport in 1974, Mr. Hemstreet and the properties have provided more than 1,000
full-time jobs to the local communities. He has also developed, owned, and operated
more than 900 apartment units, providing affordable, comfortable housing and
more job opportunities to countless families over the years.
